About me


Scarlett O’Malley is a selector, international DJ, radio presenter, podcaster and journalist hailing from West London. She is also the founder and head honcho of soul music imprint ‘The Soul Exchange’. Scarlett regularly DJs across capital and has supported big names from Secretsundaze, to Norman Jay, to Hot Chip, Cassy and more.The venues she frequesntly plays at include 93 Feet East, The Pickle Factory, Spiritland, NTs Loft, The Cause, Brixton Jamm, Corsica Studios and with The Soul Exchange has taken over floors at the South London Soul Train. She has DJed for brands such as Fred Perry, MAC, Misspap and played at festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Brainchild, 51st State, El Dorado and Al Fresco. Scarlett DJs an eclectic range of Soul, House, Disco and Latin and likes to play dance music from across the eras, and has taken her collection from Pikes in Ibiza to a DJ tour hitting Boston, New York and New Orleans. Scarlett has monthly residencies with Foundation FM and Totally Wired Radio and has intermittent shows on Rinse, Balamii, NTS, Soho Radio and Netil. In terms of journalism Scarlett has had bylines in Mixmag, the Focus, The Ealing Times and the SWLondoner, she has also produced news videos for Mixmag whilst she worked there from 2019-2020. As of July 2020, Scarlett has launched a podcast with the YOUTH CLUB Archive, aptly named the YOUTH CLUB Podcast, speaking to the photographers behind the famous photos in their collection, this can be found in the podcast tab.

DJ

Scarlett O’Malley has been DJing professionally for two years, and record collecting for 13 years. Her go-to style is SOUL | HOUSE | DISCO but her record collection spans 50s doo-wop, to 60s soul, 70s funk, 90s piano heavy house, UKGarage, jazz, latin and much more.

The Soul Exchange

The Soul Exchange is a Northern Soul, Crossover and Disco night hailing from the London. The night was established in April of 2018 and has since found itself in all corners of the capital. Starting off in Notting Hill Arts Club, the night has now expanded to Brixton and Brighton, with more dates in more areas to come in the new year. The Soul Exchange has worked with a host of different DJs from across the country, including Eliza Rose, Saffiyah Khan, Anne Frankenstein and Deptford Northern Soul Club. The night was created as London’s answer to a much-needed revitalisation of subculture in music. One thing at these nights is certain… YOU WILL DANCE!
